Eff Ay Ques!
Hello, and welcome to the frequently asked questions section! Scroll on down to learn more about working with me.
What are your rates?
With the exception of specific flash sheets, the cost of your tattoo is determined by the placement on your body, size of the piece, and level of detail. This is why I always want to chat with you first via DM or my handy inquiry form.
What’s the deposit for?
The deposit that you pay when you book your session does multiple things: it holds your appointment time; it goes towards the time I take to draw your work; and it applies to the final cost of your tattoo.
When you reschedule or cancel with less than 48 hours notice, the chances that your appointment time will be filled are pretty low. Your deposit also protects my time in this way.
Your deposit, for these reasons, is non-refundable and non-transferrable. If you need to reschedule, contact me as soon as possible so I can accommodate you!
How does your flash work?
I draw two types of flash: medium to large individual pieces, or flash sheets with small to medium pieces. The flash sheets are always announced on Instagram with their flat rate costs, mostly between $75-$200. I repeat those images, so lots of folks can snag affordable tattoos. For the individual flash pieces, the cost ranges depending on how big you want it, and where you’d like the art on your body. Unless otherwise stated, most of the larger flash pieces are “one and done” — it’s yours alone!
Do you do custom work?
Yes! I love designing custom tattoos with people. The best way to organize a custom piece with me is to contact me via my inquiry link, so we can start a conversation.
How do notes and edits on drawings work?
If we’re working on a large piece, I love doing what I call a “dress fitting.” At your initial consult, we’ll schedule another consult where I’ll have a sketch of the drawing and we’ll actually stencil that sketch onto your skin! You’ll go home with the stencil on, and take your time sitting with the art and will let me know if you have any changes* before the tattoo session itself.
*A note on changes
Getting a custom tattoo is a special experience and you should have the ability to alter and change the design to your desires and vision! However, if changes significantly alter the shape of the design (the size, how detailed it is, the location and how much space the tattoo takes up), there will be an additional $100 added to the price of the tattoo. I never want to discourage notes on art — one of the most important parts of my tattooing practice is creating an open, intentional space for my clients! I’ve found recently that my punk spirit doesn’t always match with how capitalism and time works. Drawing original art is time-consuming, and so applying major changes is a lot of time!
Can I see my custom tattoo design ahead of time?
Unfortunately: no. I used to show art before a tattoo session via text or email, but that proved to be really hard to keep track of. I’ve built in extra time to all my tattoo sessions for edits and notes on the art. If waiting until the tattoo appointment itself makes you nervous, I’ve set up a special booking appointment for in-person consults, where we can discuss the art together before your actual appointment.
Do you do color tests?
Yes! I love doing color tests for all skin types. Color tests are FREE. We’ll schedule a special appointment, and you can choose the colors you wish to see on your body. We’ll make small dots (or hearts! or smile faces! whatever you desire), and see how they heal.
What should I do to prepare for my appointment?
1. Make sure you hydrate plenty the day before. Electrolytes are your friend!
2. Eat well at least 3-4 hours before the appointment. I often go to a diner nearby before I get tattooed. Being hydrated and well fed will help with pain management!
3. If you're someone who drinks alcohol, I recommend avoiding it the night before or sticking to just one drink!
